There’s a long tradition in our family — my husband reads the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal each morning (I mean, he reads the sports page of the WP each morning, and then gets to the rest in the evening if he has down time), while I moan and groan about the mess the newspaper makes as it slowly spreads around the house to all flat (and some less-than-flat) surfaces.
Now my little son, following in Daddy’s footsteps, has added one more surface — the family room floor. In his 3 year old way he is very passionate about reading the paper in the morning with Daddy — we actually have to keep yesterday’s sports page around for Goofy to read while Daddy reads today’s, because neither of them can share (understandable in a three-year-old…;). Goofy demands the “Nationals Newspaper” (aka, the sports section), and then goes through and identifies which sport is being photographed in each story — so adorable. This morning, there was a page with no pictures at all, which greatly upset Goofy, until he noticed a small logo at the bottom of the page and announced, “Nope, here’s a picture!” Whew!
Though I have no photo to illustrate this, little Goosie also loves the newspaper. That newspaper on the floor is like target practice for her. She crawls over to the paper…and then OVER the paper…she is a little baby on the go these days! I think she considers it a nice bonus that Goofy completely loses it when she does this.![]()
Have a great weekend!
