I’ve posted on a few occasions about my sister’s paintings. (I’ve linked at the end of this post). For Christmas this year, she surprised my husband with a jewelry tree filled with wine charms she had designed and created! I waited all day for this 10 minutes of light, right before the sun fell below the tops of the houses across the street….

Here’s to yesterday — a beautiful, almost 60 degree day in the middle of January here in Bethesda. Whoever would have guessed?! Today’s a good day to be posting pictures because there’s a wind warning — less than ideal to be chasing those beautiful wine glass charms down the street.

I’m back to brag about my sister, Theresa Jeanne, again. Her artwork is currently hanging in a show at James Madison University, where she is about to graduate with a degree in Art Education (lucky school that gets her!). I have a new-found respect for photographers who actually photograph art well — it’s an area I have not really explored and I’m sorry to say that these photos only hint at how stunning the real life work is.

Just a quick run-through of her exhibit, starting with the left and center walls (the right wall gets its own section).

Now for a few close-ups, and fun angles.

Here’s the right side of Theresa’s show. Yeah, the painting is enormous, and it’s not even finished! There was a thought that it would be fun to have Theresa work on the painting right there at the opening, but I believe there was concern for the floors….

Yes, I am shamelessly promoting a family member, but you would too if you had a sister this talented!

My sister, Theresa Jeanne, is currently studying art education in college, and over the summer agreed to do several custom paintings for my childrens’ rooms. We were so excited about the results (as are the kids — okay, the 3 year old at least; the 8 month old just wants to eat hers) that when my son’s school, the Clara Barton Center for Children in Cabin John, MD, started looking for donations for their annual spring auction, I asked her if she would like to do a couple paintings to be auctioned off. She agreed, and here are the results!

Quick notes:

the trucks (my son’s request!) and the fairies are mine;
the beach scene and the animals are for the auction;
the siblings picture, painted on wood panels, is based on a photo I took of my own kids, but sadly belongs to my mother now
